He was born on April 22, 1929, in St. John, Missouri (St. Louis County) to Emil and Bertha Schinzing. He had his elementary education at Presentation Catholic Church School and graduated from McBride High School in 1947. He started working at a young age delivering newspapers; in high school he stocked shelves in a grocery store, did drafting work at Sterling Engineering, and worked with a surveying crew. In 1951, Don went into the Air Force but received a medical discharge a year later due to a back injury. He started working at McDonnell Aircraft (later McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing) in 1948 and remained with the company for 43 years, retiring in 1991. On April 7, 1951, he met Carol Twesten; they were married five years later on April 28, 1956. They were blessed with five wonderful children. Over the years, the family grew to include children-in-law, nine grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren, creating a wonderful, caring, supportive family. Don's love of hunting and the outdoors led him to purchase a farm north of Belle, Missouri, in 1974. He soon began to work the land as a farm---clearing, fencing, putting up hay, and later raising cattle. After he retired from McDonnell Douglas, he and Carol made the farm their permanent home. Don was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Marie Weber. He will be missed and always remembered by his wife Carol; his sister Joan Mullally (Bob); his children and children-in-law, Kurt and Karen Schinzing, Anne Marie and Tom Bayne, Gregg and Kristin Schinzing, Kate Brushaber, and Beth and Javier Parada; and his grandchildren and step-grandchildren.************************** The Lodge Des Peres 1050 Des Peres Rd. April 22, 1929 - March 19, 2011
