Anna Sue Theising

THEISING, Anna Sue Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Sue Theising (nee Straub) died at Des Peres Hospital on Saturday, February 21, 2015, surrounded by her children. She was 86. She was the beloved mother of Susan (Joseph) Eye of Florissant, David (Kathy) Theising of North Aurora, IL, Stephen (Sandy) Theising of Foristell, John Theising of St. Peters, and Andrew (the late Nancy) Theising of Des Peres. Dear grandmother of Lindsey Knoten, Amanda Knoten, Amber (Dan) Walker, Jim Theising, Luke Theising, and Evan Theising. Dear great-grandmother of Kayla Walker. She was the dear sister of the late Rosemary Davison, who died in September 2014; Jean Coonrod of Cheyenne, WY; and Richard Straub of Prescott, AZ. Dear sister-in-law of Catherine Montgomery of Fairfield, OH and Dorothy Theising, now of Florissant. She was our dear aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend. Sue was born January 7, 1929, to Adolph and Josephine (Hancock) Straub. She grew up in Monroe City, MO, and attended grade school and high school there. She moved to St. Louis in 1947 to attend St. Louis University. She graduated in 1951 with a BS in Nursing. She trained at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights, where all of her children later would be born. On November 28, 1953, she married Henry Theising Jr. at St. Rita’s Church in Vinita Park, MO. They moved to Florissant in 1958 and spent many years on Spring Valley Drive. Henry died in 2012. Sue left the nursing field in the late 1960s to become an elementary school teacher at Sacred Heart Parish in Florissant, where she spent the rest of her career. She started many life-long friendships there. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Dismas/St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish in Florissant, and later St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Brentwood. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Des Peres Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. Services: Private. Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Florissant, MO.
