ARD, TIMOTHY J. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Tim died peacefully at his cabin in the arms of his wife and daughter on Monday, October 14, 2013, after courageously living with cancer for 2 years. Tim was born on March 2, 1960. He grew up in Hazelwood and moved to Florissant in 1991. Tim was a proud member and 30 year veteran of the Ironworkers' Local 396. Tim was always quick to point out a building, pool, culvert or anything that he helped build. Tim ran a 60 man crew and the complete construction of what is now known as the Scottrade Center. He worked on the Batman rollercoaster at Six Flags. Tim was quite proud of the ironwork he did for a few years at the St. Louis Zoo where he designed and built most of those cool, giant rocks. Very well respected in the industry, Tim retired as a foreman with a company truck in 2010. In 1987, Tim married Susan Geers and their daughter, Emileigh, was born. They divorced 2 years later and Tim became a single father raising his only child. After years of friendship and several courtship attempts, Tim finally roped in his soul mate and married her in 1997. Tim and Cindy exchanged wedding vows in a private beach ceremony on Grand Cayman Island. Tim loved to hunt deer, turkey and squirrels, and occasionally enjoyed calling in crows to shoot for fun. He had a passion for guns and got pleasure from target shooting and collecting. Tim had passion for the outdoors and appreciated time in the woods. His long-time desire to own rural property was fulfilled in 1997 when he and Cindy bought 40 acres with a cabin in Steelville. Countless people have enjoyed good times and made fond memories there. Nearby and adjoining parcels were acquired over the years allowing Tim to boast ownership of 158 acres. On some of that land, Tim and Cindy founded ArdPark, a small but successful cabin rental and campground business. Timmy Joe was a devoted, loving husband, father and son, and a genuine friend to many. Tim was preceded in death by his brother, Pat, whom he spoke to often during the last week of his journey. He is survived by his wife, Cindy (nee) Witthofft, daughter, Emileigh, parents Ken and Kathleen Ard, future son-in-law Brian Heffern, grandson Kaeden Heffern, nephews Patrick and Shayne Ard, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and a multitude of friends. Services: Visitation Friday, October 18, from 2-9 p.m. at Hutchens Mortuary 675 Graham Rd. Funeral from Hutchens Mortuary 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 19, to St. Ferdinand Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass, Interment immediately following at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Everyone is welcome at the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, Tim's personal request is donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at visitation.
