"Mickey" Clara Julia Tanner

Clara "Mickey" Julia Tanner Mickey Tanner passed away October 28, 2008 in Kansas City, MO with her loving family at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Blanche Murphy, her sister Dorothy, her brothers Bill Junior and Fred, and her husband for 54 years, Bud Tanner--all from the St. Louis area. She is survived by her son Mike and his wife Sue of Kansas City, MO, and their son Jeffrey, currently in residency in Los Angeles; another son Tim and his wife Beth of Colorado Springs, CO and their son Matt, currently at CU Denver; her nieces Pat Bovier, Kathy Tanner-Di Benigno, and Laurie Tanner, and nephews Tim Murphy, Mark Tanner, Jim and Tom Yerke, and many other loving family and friends to include Dan Travers and Flo O'Heron, Marcela Sweetin, and Mary Ellen Tracey, and her wonderful neighbors, Bob and Marie Cassouts. Mickey moved to Florissant, Missouri in December 1959 and lived there for the last 49 years. She was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Mickey was a life long Catholic and a 50 year member of Sacred Heart Parrish in Florissant, MO. On March 12, 1942, Mickey married Bud Tanner prior to Bud's deployment to the European Theater as a Technical Sergeant in the Infantry until 1945. Mickey worked for the City of Florissant in Public Works before joining the 131st Tactical Fighter Wing, Missouri Air National Guard in 1979 as a government secretary. She retired from this job in 1984. After Bud passed away in 1996, Mickey enjoyed a special friendship with Bill Meyer and his family. Mickey survived a bout with cancer in 1974 but succumbed to the disease when it struck her unexpectedly in June 2008. She spent her last months in the loving care of Sue and Mike Tanner in Kansas City with the assistance of Sue's mother, Opal Randazzo, Kansas City Hospice, and Sue's many friends. Sue was an inspiration to our entire family as the voluntary caretaker for Mickey when she moved to Kansas City. Procession from Hutchens Mortuary at 10:30 am Friday, Oct. 31 to Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Florissant) for 11 am Mass. Interment 1 pm Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 pm Thurs.
