Mary Lou Martin

Mary Lou Martin of Florissant, Missouri, was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away into the arms of Jesus on June 22, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born September 23, 1929, in Centerville, Missouri. The daughter of the late James and Lorene Botkin. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Martin, five brothers, Gay, Euel, Lowell, Bernell and Bob Botkin, all of Farmington, Missouri and two sisters, Ilene Haas of Farmington and Irene Martin of Maryland Heights, Missouri, and her dear friend, Bertha Scott. Mary was united in marriage on June 17, 1950 to Lowell Martin of Redford, MO. She is survived by her only child, Patricia (Jeff )Richardson of Florissant, MO., two brothers, Jim Botkins and wife Carol of Farmington, MO and Richard Botkins and wife Gloria of Katy, Texas. She is also survived by nephew Mark ( Paula) Martin and their two sons, Brent and Ryan, of Maryland Heights, MO, numerous other nieces and nephews, and beloved friend, Tonya Cutright and daughter Makayla. Early in life, Mary found enjoyment in caring for others. This compassionate nature led her to a career in nursing that spanned over fifty years and touched many lives. She studied and graduated from Nursing School at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. Throughout her life, Mary held several different jobs in the nursing field in the St. Louis area. The job she enjoyed most was the last job she held at the Mother of Good Council Home for retired nuns, where the nuns loved her as much as she loved caring for them. When Mary was younger, she loved going to the river near her home -- nothing better than a hot sunny day perfect for sunbathing! All of her young nieces absolutely loved it when Aunt Mary would gather them up to go for a day in the sun and water. Mary's passing will leave a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her, but we are comforted in knowing that she is no longer in pain and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Graveside services will be held at Lake Charles Memorial Park, Overland, 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Visitation at Hutchens Mortuary and Cremation Center, Florissant, from 9 to 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, until leaving for the cemetery.
