Jane E. Price

Jane E. Price, 81, passed away at the Hospice House in St. Louis MO early on the morning of Thursday August 27, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Dear mother of Donna (Rick) Tharp, Sandra Wombacher, Lisa Schulte, Brian (Judy) Price and the late Michael Price; cherished grandmother to Melanie Redfield, Angela Lopez, Cory Schulte, Kevin Schulte, Drew Schulte, Brandon Wombacher, Alex Wombacher, Alicia Dixon and Daniel Price; great-grandmother to Chloe Arndt, Malcolm Arndt, Jackson Schulte, Lily Schulte, William Schulte, Paxton Schulte, Fletcher Schulte, Colby Price, Colton Dixon, Grant Dixon and Zoe Price; dear sister to Rosemary (Walter) Remiger, Kenneth (Kathy) Ceola, Jackie Ceola and the late Robert Ceola. Jane was very proud of her Italian heritage, and every trait that went along with it; passion, prayer, devoted Catholic wife and mother, smart, hard working, and stubborn. She was born in Tonitown, Arkansas with her older sister, Rosemary and younger brother, Bobby. Her parents, Dominic and Helen Ceola brought them to St. Louis, MO where she grew up alongside her siblings, including her youngest brother Kenny. From the time she was a little girl she did what she could to help support her family; working in nearby tomato fields. She attended Laboure all girls Catholic High School and graduated June of 1952. She became a secretary and worked for an accountant for several years. She married shortly after that and devoted her life to raising her four children in addition to helping raise each of her grandchildren. Jane lost a son, Michael when he was only 3 1/2 years old to Encephalitis, which left a huge void in her life that could never be filled. She was a stay at home mom who ironed for others and was paid by the piece or by the basket. Hours were spent standing over the steam of a hot iron . Mom was very frugal and saved to buy her children a backyard pool, dancing lessons and drum lessons. She was often left alone to care for the children while her husband was away on business. She helped with homework, scouts and volunteered in the kitchen at St. Aloysius. Jane later worked as a cook at Kirby Middle School in Hazelwood. She frequently came home with burns from the oven and pans. She was a fast worker and others had a hard time keeping up with her. Mom loved to ballroom dance and square dance; traveling all over the country with friends and her sister and brother-in-law. Her favorite shows were Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice and American Idol. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, bingo player, exercise fanatic, Wii Bowler and an amazing cook. She had a love for laughter, games, happy hours and mudslides. Mom was a very compassionate woman full of grace and beauty. She helped those with visual impairments fill out dinner menus, pushed those in wheelchairs to desired destination, served others at her table, and generally looked out for others well-being. Family and friends will dearly miss her. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Assc. Family is requesting private services.
