James Lawrence "Larry" Wenger

Wenger, James Lawrence "Larry," passed away at his home in Ferguson on Friday, September 2, 2016, at the age of 63. James is predeceased by his parents, Everett and Carol Wenger. He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn (Ed) Vokoun of Chesterfield, and Mary Beth (Larry) Williams of Rolla MO, his brother, Robert (Stephanie Rosenberg) of Concord CA; his children, Christopher (Christy) Wenger of Tulsa OK, and Jennifer (Holger) of Los Angeles CA, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Larry was born and raised in Tulsa OK. He attended Edison High School, the University of Tulsa and Oklahoma State University, eventually earning his Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. For several years, he worked as a process engineer in natural gas production. After illness rendered it difficult to continue working in the engineering profession, Larry moved to St. Louis and entered the security service industry. Most recently he worked in security at St. Louis Metropolitan Psychiatric Center, earning a promotion to security shift supervisor and a ten-year service certificate. Larry was an industrious man of integrity. He faithfully fulfilled his work commitments and responsibilities and tried to promote a sense of fairness in the workplace. He enjoyed being around family and participating in family special events. He dearly loved his children, Chris and Jenni, and was constantly concerned about how he might best provide for them. Although his financial means were limited because of medical bills, Larry had a generous heart and gave freely of his time, often performing odd jobs for family members. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and composing songs. Larry's faith was evident in his preference for hymns and religious songs. His siblings and extended family have benefitted from the many hours he spent digitally preserving family history including our father's letters, 35mm slides and reel-to-reel recordings. Although Larry struggled with many illnesses in this lifetime, we know that he is now free of suffering and happy in the presence of God and the family members who have gone before him. Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace. A memorial service for Larry will be held at Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant, Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 1 p.m. Visitation will precede the service beginning at noon, Wednesday.
