Glennon Joseph Ryan

Ryan, Glennon Joseph Sr., Age 88, June 22, 2009. Foritifed with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. The oldest of eight children of Joseph and Cecelia Ryan; loving husband and best friend of Patricia. dear father of Glennon (Sherry) Ryan Jr., Kathleen (Don) Morice, Mary Ellen Ryan, Sheila Thompson and the late Patrick and Timothy Ryan; devoted grandfather of Monica (David) Chaney, Jana (Nigel) Prince, Kelly (Jason) Lim, Nova O'Ryan, Natalie (Michael) Lutz, Kevin Ryan and Melanie Ryan; great grandfather of Tabitha, Timmy, Kaya, Ashley Samantha and Dylan; dear brother of Eileen (Don) Lael, Rev Joseph Ryan, Rosemary (Bill ) Bangert, Bernice (Ralph) Krupp, Mary Louise Herbst, Dennis (Sandra) Ryan and the late Margaret Ryan. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. Glen attended McBride High School and graduated from Hadley High. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 29, 1940. He was a past president of Pearl Harbor Surviviors Missouri Chapter #1. He met his wife Pat in Grand Rapids, MI. They were married in San Diego on July 7, 1945, where he was stationed on North Island. After his discharge in November of 1946, they moved to Michigan, where he graduated from Kalamazoo College. After moving to Berkeley, MO, he operated a gas station and asphalt plant for his brother-in-law Bill Bangert, the mayor of Berkeley. Glen served as an alderman in Berkeley, Third Ward. He was a charter member and past president of the Berkeley Lions Club. Glen worked for Phillips Petroleum Co as a district representative for 16 years. He was also a district manager for Hasting Mfg Co. and held a real estate broker's license. Glen started working for St. Louis County's Aprrraisers office in 1975 and retired from there as a principal appraiser on August 18, 1989. He was a boxer and an avid trout fisherman. After retiring, he and Pat traveled to many of the States, Canada and Ireland. they went to their favorite destination, Hawaii, several times. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Missouri Veterans Home of St. Louis who took such wonderful care of Glen. Farewell, Kuuipo. Funeral from HUTCHENS Mortuary, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant at 9:45 AM, Thurs., June 25, to St. Angela Merici Church for 10:30 AM Mass. Interment National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO. Visitation 4-8 PM, Wed., June 24 at Hutchens. Masses preferred.
