Glenn P. Foster

Foster, Glenn Presnell Glenn was born in Sikeston, MO, May 4, 1927, to Homer Marling Foster and Lillian Fowler Foster. He had an older brother, R. C. Fabian Foster, who died as a child before Glenn's birth. Glenn did not like his birth name, so when he was four years old, he changed his name to Glenn Presnell, after the physician who, ironically, signed his birth certificate, proving his strong-willed nature. He did not graduate from high school, however, his stubbornness proved beneficial when taking correspondence courses to learn his electrician's trade; he completed his high school equivalency in the mid-70s. His work career consisted of various jobs as cotton picker, shoe factory worker, golf caddie, 'bouncer' at a roller skating rink, paper route delivery and hardware store employee before obtaining more stable jobs at the Tennessee Valley Authority and Ford Motor Company. He finally ended his work career at McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) while operating Glennco Service, primarily a heating and air conditioning company. He married Dorothy Lucille Chism, lovingly known as "Helen," on June 25, 1945. To this marriage was born Jannett, Charlotte and Glenn Dale, who have each married, Robert, Michael and Paulette respectively, and giving them ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and counting, and two great great grandchildren. Glenn and Helen moved to Florissant in 1959 where Glenn resided until shortly before his death. Glenn and Helen were faithful followers of Jesus Christ, participated in church related activities, choir and deaconship. They traveled with their motorhome through all fifty states, Canada and Mexico. Using his electrical skills, he helped to build churches or did maintenance on existing buildings while Helen cleaned and did office work. They savored traveling and visiting state capitals as Glenn enjoyed both history and geography. Glenn and Helen were members of the 'Cardinal' Holiday Rambler camping club for many years. Glenn relished the educational accomplishments of his grandchildren by attending graduation ceremonies whether high school or college. Helen preceded Glenn in death, January 5, 2005. On June 3, 2006, Glenn married Audrey Johnson, and they went back and forth between her home in Rockford, IL, and his is Florissant until more recently due to Glenn's failing health. Visitation for Glenn will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2015, at Brookside Assembly of God Church, 12604 Missouri Bottom Road, Hazelwood. Funeral will follow at the church at 1 p.m., Monday. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sikeston, MO, at noon on Tuesday, June 2.
