Gary D. Kloefkorn, passed away on Feb 8, 2015. Dear son of Melva Lou Kloefkorn and the late Chester Kloefkorn; beloved husband of the late Sherri Kloefkorn (nee Borth); dear father to Brian Kloefkorn and the late Kevin Kloefkorn; dear brother of Alan (Genevieve) Kloefkorn, Larry (Mary) Kloefkorn and Beverly Beckoff; dear son-in-law to Rev. Jack Borth; dear brother-in-law to Tammy (Stan) Bumbarner, Larry (Debbie) Borth and Steve (Kathy) Borth; loving uncle, cousin and good friend to many. In lieu of flowers, please share Gary's passions by sending a donation in his honor to the following: Africa's Hope 1445 Boonville Ave. Springfield, MO 65802 or Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship 3219 Overland Ave. #6182 Los Angeles, CA 90034 Below is a message from the family: Gary Duane Kloefkorn was born in Harper, Kansas on a chilly November 12th in 1952 to Chester and Melva Lou (Elliott) Kloefkorn. They couldn’t have been more thrilled to have a son join the family. As soon as Gary was old enough, he helped work the farm - even plowing fields by age ten. Fortunately for Gary, his dad believed in only working half-days…He always said 12 hours was enough for one day! Gary attended Clay Center High School where he played football and trombone through all four years. He was very proud to be a member of the Stardusters Stage Band. During concerts, they dressed in white dinner jackets while accompanying world-famous musicians Doc Severinsen or Billy Booth. He enjoyed the close-knit camaraderie of his hometown school, yet his aspirations were higher than the hills of Kansas. His graduation in 1970 marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Inspired by the space program as he grew up, his love for technology drew Gary to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended United Electronics Institute. He studied hard, excelling in the cutting edge electronics program. Then mutual friends introduced him to Sherri Borth. Very quickly, they both realized God had brought them together for a reason. After graduation from UEI, Gary and Sherri were married on May 26, 1973. They were later blessed with two sons, Brian David and Kevin Daniel Kloefkorn. As a computer service and asset manager, Gary worked for NCR, Four Phase Systems, Home Savings of America and Edward Jones. As an entrepreneur, Gary rehabbed houses, managed rental property and processed funding. Gary was very proud of his sons. He was involved with their sports teams and organizations. He supported their career pursuits with even more pride. Gary was devoted to his family, an active servant in his church- Bethel Fellowship Assembly of God- and instrumental in building the lives of many. His sincere love for people and humble service made Gary a light that shined wherever he was. Jesus truly was the center of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife Sherri, youngest son Kevin and father Chester. Survivors include his son Brian, mother Melva Lou, siblings Alan (wife Genevieve), Larry (wife Mary) and Beverly Beckoff, as well as honorary sons Raymond Whitfield and Uwe Muench, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
