Eugene Kilgen Drain

Eugene Kilgen Drain was born January 20th 1961 to Marie and Charles Michael Drain in St. Louis, Missouri. After a four year courageous battle with the ugly “C” word he gently entered into heaven on Thursday, October 10th 2013, with his best friend and adoring wife Michele, (who wasn’t the boss of him that day.) and his Scottie dog Evie at his side. Doggie Daddy of Chinook, Sophie, William, Simon and Wallace, who greeted him at the rainbow bridge. Eugene is the beloved brother of Dr. Charles Michael Drain (Smita Patel), Christopher Drain, Kevin Drain and Cathy Drain. Dear Stepson of Woody (Annette) Chandler. Loved and admired brother-in-law, of Stephanie and Jerry Dill, Debbie, Christina and Angie. Uncle Eugene to nephews Joshua, Galen, Neel, Sam and Zack and nieces Lauren, Avanti and Selena. Dear nephew of Fred and Celeste Drain and Jan Kilgen. Cousin of Rick (Sylvia), Jim (Joan) and Caroline Drain, Genevieve Henry and Michelle Kilgen. New found cousin to Denny and Joan and Dave and Beth. The beloved friend of Tommy, Mike, Mary and Bill and Nate and Christine, Jim, Dave and so many other wonderful friends, who have been very supportive, kind, loving and generous. Eugene loved life, his family and friends deeply. He was kind, intelligent, loving and beautiful inside and out. He had a zest for life, a love for Fishing, hunting, the outdoors, music, painting, cooking, creating art, hanging out, joking, laughing and putting people at ease. His attitude toward life and the positive way he faced the last four years has been an inspiration to everyone he has come to know. With gratitude to God and Jesus for all of the blessings he received all his life, he faced the last two weeks of his life with grace, dignity, courage, hope, humor and love. All who love Eugene are grieving his physical loss at this time. Grieve we must, but in the midst of our loss we must remember, we will see him again in heaven. He would want us to comfort each other as we mourn our loss. He would want us to have peace in our hearts and he will pray for us to learn to live in this life, until we see him again. Eugene and I would like to convey our gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses who have given incredible care and treatment to him. The wonderful staff in the Cancer center, the Lab, ER and radiology departments at St. Luke’s Hospital. Thank you to St. Luke’s Hospice staff. Last but not least. Our undying gratitude to John Hutchens and everyone at Hutchens Mortuary for their amazing, kind and loving support to Eugene and I. John, thank you for giving us the gift of time, for Eugene and I to have together to help him Get Home. Procession from Hutchens Mortuary & Cremation Center, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant, Monday, October 14, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. to Our Lady of Lourdes, 7148 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105 for a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Service concludes at church. Visitation 1-5 p.m. Sunday, October 13 at Hutchens. Family requests memorials to charity of your choice.
