Elaine M. Veit

Veit, Elaine M. (nee Krzyzanowski) Age 51, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Beloved daughter of Dolores Krzyzanowski and preceded in death by her father Lambert Krzyzanowski; loving mother of Melissa (Brian), Megan (Shayne), and Marcie (Casey); loving grandmother of Calen, Tristen, and Zeke; loving sister of Mike (Wendy), Ken (Becky), Dave (Shaye), John, and Karen (David); dear former spouse of Kevin for 30 years; dear aunt, godmother, cousin, and friend. Elaine was a homemaker who raised three beautiful daughters. She was the kind of mother who was always there for her daughters, whatever they needed. If that meant talking on the phone for hours while they drove home from work, she happily did it. She was for her daughters what anyone could possibly hope for — an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a hug to provide comfort, no questions asked. Her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She drove to and from Illinois on countless occasions to visit and take care of them. She would play with them and spoil them rotten when Megan wasn’t looking. They would ask Megan when Mimi was coming over because they loved her so dearly. Elaine was also a devoted daughter beyond measure. She visited her mother every Tuesday and Friday for as long as her daughters can remember. Elaine took her mother grocery shopping every week and chauffeured her around Florissant to any place she needed to go. She would spend all day visiting with her mother, cooking and playing Skip-Bo. She would even always put a Skip-Bo card at the bottom of her mother’s pile, so her mother would be able to “win” one card sooner. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish (formerly St. Dismas). She dedicated countless hours over the years to the parish, working at the school library at St. Dismas. Long after her daughters graduated, she continued to volunteer at the school. She also recently became a lector at church, something she greatly enjoyed. All who heard her read said she was a joy to listen to during Mass. Elaine loved to collect things, for example, marbles and little glass bottles. She had shelves and shelves of itty bitty glass knickknacks that she found at craft fairs that were beautiful, even if they were a pain to dust. She also enjoyed taking weekend pottery classes, and her newest hobby was creating beautiful stained glass window pieces and designer boxes as gifts. Anyone who met Elaine knew she was a “hugger.” Even if you were meeting her for the first time, she would hug you hello and goodbye because that’s the kind of person she was. She welcomed all into her family, regardless of if they were blood relatives or not. She offered her unconditional love and support to her family, friends, and community. She will be dearly missed by all. Services: Visitation 4-8 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant, Missouri, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church (formally known as St. Dismas), 2650 Parker Road, Florissant, Missouri.
