David Alan Miller

Miller, David Alan, 46 years, from Florissant, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 near his home in Warrenton, MO. Beloved father of Nicholas Alan Miller and Jacob Alan Miller; dear fiance of Debora Parks; dear son of John and Janet (nee McGath) Miller; dear brother of Mark (Susan), Lance, and Christopher Miller; dear uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. David attended St. Louis University High School and was a 1986 graduate of McCluer North High School, where he played saxophone in the marching band. He then attended the University of Missouri – St. Louis where he studied engineering and was an active member of the Sigma Pi fraternity. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed motorcycling, ATVing, shooting and collecting guns. Over many summers you could find him spending time on his boat the “Goin’ Ape” at Alton Lake. Incredibly skilled with his hands and mechanically inclined, he always seemed to be working on something, and could often be found helping out at his parents’ house. Memorable projects were the 1978 Corvette he restored in his parents’ garage, the RV he drove back from South Carolina and completely renovated, and several boats he repaired and resold. He loved anything with a motor, often owning several vehicles at the same time. He spent his whole career in sales, beginning as an award-winning manager of a Fantasy Coachworks store in Florissant. He was then an award-winning car salesman and a Finance & Insurance Manager at several dealerships including Behlman GMC-Pontiac and Ernie Patty Oldsmobile. He was also a successful mortgage broker before moving into truck brokering, most recently with Bama Logistics of St. Charles. But nothing gave him more pleasure than being with his two sons, Nick and Jake. He was always teaching them something, from how to play basketball and baseball, ice skating and inline skating, to riding a dirt bike, or shooting a bow and arrow or a .22 rifle. Anything he did with them made him happy, like fixing them dinner, helping them with their homework, or spending time out in the woods. Time spent with his sons was his favorite time, and gave him the greatest joy, no matter what they were doing. Services: Funeral procession 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 11 from Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant, to St. Angela Merici for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment St. Ferdinand Cemetery. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday, May 10.
