Christina M Hoffschwelle

Christina M. Hoffschwelle, Born April 7, 1957 and went to Heaven August 6, 2016 fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Chris was the beloved daughter of Sharon and late William Hoffschwelle, dear sister of Kathy (Greg) Bartnett, Mark (Kristy) Hoffschwelle and cherished aunt of Drew and Ben Hoffschwelle (who were the light of her life). Chris enjoyed watching television in her bedroom, but when she knew her nephews were coming for a visit, she would sit in the family room and wait for their arrival. Chris graduated from the Special School District at the age of 21 and then started working at Universal Sheltered Workshop. She left there to work at the Florissant Sheltered Workshop so she would be closer to home. The Florissant Workshop moved to Hazelwood and became Valley Industries and she retired from there. She worked over 30 years and loved every minute of it. She rarely missed a day of work. She was awarded Employee of the Month several times (This is a great honor and recognition for these employees). She would come home proudly carrying her plaque and smiling ear to ear. She had her routine when she got home from work. She would clean up and then go to the basement and walk on her treadmill and ride her stationary bike. She also loved dancing in the basement to her Michael Jackson CD's. There was a time she enjoyed the band Kiss! She bowled 2 times a month on a league at Crest Bowl. She would practice in the basement with plastic bowling pins and her bowling ball. She attended monthly dances at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Florissant. She always looked forward to those dances. She enjoyed watching videos. She had over 100 video movies. Chris loved her beagle Dexter and it broke her heart when Dexter became ill and was no longer around. Chris was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 8 years ago. She lived with her Mother until about 5 years ago. Prior to that Chris was very independent, but as the disease progressed, her Mother was no longer able to care for her at home. She resided at St. Sophia for 4 years and then Life Care Center of Florissant for over a year. We will really miss Chris, but know she is in a wonderful place and reunited with her Dad. Heaven has another very special angel. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donation to Valley Industries, 143 B McDonnell Blvd., Hazelwood, MO 63042.
