Anna Marie Bretz Asleep in God on Wednesday, October 5 at age 91. Beloved wife of the late Robert L. Bretz, loving mother of Mark (Gail) Bretz, Jill (Robert) Westholt and Brian (Tammie) Bretz; loving grandmother of Matthew Bretz, Andrew (Lisa) Bretz, Anthony (Jamie) Bretz, Jaimie (Nick) Spiro, Ryan Westholt, Shane Bretz, Aaron Bretz and Megan Bretz; loving great-grandmother of Madison Bretz, Jaxson Westholt and Olivia Bretz. Beloved daughter of the late Edward Higgins and the late Anna Jezik Higgins; beloved sister of Dorothy Gorman and Elaine Horn and the late Mary Higgins; loving sister-in-law of Paul Horn, Eugene Bretz and Shirley Bretz and the following, all deceased: Robert Gorman, Glennon (Lois) Bretz, Constance (George) Reisel, Henry Bretz Jr. and Jane (Donald) Humphrey; loving daughter-in-law of the late Henry Bretz Jr. and the late Stella Gissy Bretz. Loving aunt, cousin, great-aunt and friend to many others. Anna Marie was devoted to her family throughout her life, always putting her children and grandchildren ahead of herself. She and her husband Bob established savings accounts for each of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She dearly loved all of her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed seeing what each of them achieved in their own lives. Anna Marie was a graduate of Corpus Christi grade school and Ursuline Academy High School. For many years she worked full-time jobs as an executive secretary while she and Bob raised their three children. She was a disciplinarian when necessary but also a kind and generous, wonderful human being, the best mother one could ever hope to have. She loved reading, family gatherings, getting together with friends and a devoted Catholic. She was born November 17, 1924 and passed on October 5, 2016, just four days after the passing of her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert. She was greatly loved by her family and already is sorely missed, but her generosity and kindness will not be forgotten. Services: Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Road in Florissant on Monday, October 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 11 at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Florissant, 16455 New Halls Ferry Road, followed by burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
